Abstract del progetto
Electrification in non-road mobile machinery such as tractors is still at an initial stage. For these vehicles, the movement is only a limited part of the work duty, since mechanical power to the power take off or to hydraulic remotes is typically required. This results in a difficult identification of the best electrification strategy for the vehicle.Nevertheless, the interest in more-electric tractors is very high and increasing. This is confirmed by manufacturers and also by European Agency which promote initiatives within sustainable growth, such as the Flagship Initiative "Resource efficient Europe". This has been also one of the priorities for Horizon 2020.As a first result, a more electric-tractor allows a reduction of fuel consumption and emissions in modern mechanized agriculture. This project aims to create the background, currently missing, to face the design of a complete more electric tractor system, identifying, among the others, the best electrification structure topology to be adopted, the load requirement for different operations and the components currently used that need to be redesigned. The results of the project aim to be the "Green Seeds" from which new knowledge and research can germinate for a more sustainable agriculture of the future.
